Your MP can help us hold the government to account for a long-term plan to tackle the energy crisis. Email your MP today asking them to sign the Warm This Winter pledge to help keep us warm every winter.
Caroline Lucas MP is hosting a debate on Fossil Fuels and Increases in the Cost of Living in Parliament at Westminster Hall on the 11th of January from 9.30am to 11am. It's a great opportunity for us to show MPs why fixing the cost of living crisis means taking the leap away from fossil fuels - and why it needs to happen now. But first, we need to get MPs in the hall.
On the 1st April, the government’s Energy Bill Support Scheme ended, and the price we pay for our energy bills rose again. It couldn’t be clearer that our energy system needs to change. So we’re asking every MP to sign the pledge to help keep their constituents warm every winter by urging the government to:
But we need your voice to make it happen. That's why we're asking you to email your MP today and urge them to sign the pledge if they've not already. Together, we can make sure that nobody has to choose between heating their home and putting food on the table. You can check if your MP has signed the pledge yet here.
There's a template you can use, but more personal messages can make a big impact. If you're able to, you could make your email more powerful by writing in your own words, and telling your MP about your own experience of the current crisis and what it means for your local community.
With your help, we can put pressure on the government to take action and fix our broken energy system for good.
